Zoo Academy

In 2014/15 I did an eight day course at London Zoo called Zoo Academy where I got to interact with some of the animals, learn lots of new skills involved in Animal Welfare and Behaviour and I also learnt lots of new information about the vast number of interesting species they house at London Zoo 🙂 The first week focused on Invertebrates and we got to clean out some of the invertebrates from the BUG house at London Zoo including giant cockroaches, millipedes and Large Snails 🙂 The next week was focused on Reptiles so we got to say hello to some of the reptiles and got the opportunity to handle one of the snakes and feed the Giant Galapogos Tortoises which was so cool! One of the Giant Galapogos tortoises rested its head on my knee and my heart melted 🙂 Some of the other Practical tasks during the eight weeks included cleaning out the reindeer enclosure, meeting the penguins and cleaning them out, preparing food for a variety of species, making enrichment for carnivores and completing a behaviour study of squirrel monkeys. It was such a fun experience being able to do this course because although I have been to lots of zoos before it was so interesting seeing behind the scenes of Wild animal care and also learning about the conservation of some very endangered species 🙂

Halloween 2015

If I’m being completely honest, I’m not really one for celebrating Halloween, I mean I’d never been trick or treating or watched Hocus Pocus!!!!! However this year I decided to immerse myself in the spirit of Halloween and I really enjoyed it 🙂

First off I decided to try a Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks which was everything I hoped for!! I also tried a vampire frappuccino which was amazing- its a mixture of chocolate and strawberry and is honestly so delicious 🙂

Then I decided that whilst I was drinking my Starbucks drinks I may as well also carve my own Pumpkin- this proved extremely difficult with the very blunt knives I had at my university halls but hopefully next year I’ll do a better job ❤

The Thursday before Halloween I went to a Halloween Party in London called F*** me its Halloween 🙂 I dressed up as a cat and just had a laugh with friends.

The Friday bought with it another Halloween Party this time in my halls of residence at University 🙂 I went in my Minion Onesie- I was absolutely boiling by the end of the night but still had a great time 🙂

When Halloween rolled around I was absolutely exhausted so I decided that it would be a great time to sit down and actually watch Hocus Pocus which I’m told is a Halloween classic. Once I finished that I thought I may as well watch The Nightmare before Christmas which is my all-time favourite Halloween movie ❤ I then completed my movie marathon with The Rocky Horror Picture Show 🙂

 

Although I still haven’t been trick or treating I feel like I finally see what all the fuss is about and who knows there’s always next year 🙂

My first month at UNI :)

Tomorrow marks the end of my first month at UNI (it definitely doesn’t seem like it has been that long!!) so I thought I would update you on what I have been up to ❤ Starting university has meant that I have to be much more independent: for example my lectures are not compulsory and attendance is not monitored so I have to make a conscious decision to get out of bed, sometimes for a 9am Lecture  which is definitely a struggle some mornings :p I also have to be more responsible with money as I have to budget so that I can buy food because I only get a certain amount of money per week which is hard sometimes because Oxford Street (the best place for shopping in London in my opinion) is a half hour walk from my halls or if I’m feeling lazy 2 tube stops :p  I tried sushi for the first time last week which was something I have wanted to do for ages and has been on my bucket list for the longest time 🙂 – and I even went to a louis vuitton exhibition which was surreal because I love love love Louis Vuitton bags!!!!! Seeing ATC for the first time with Hannah was such an overwhelmingly awesome experience and one of the best nights I’ve had 🙂 Overall my first month of university has been a great experience which I hope continues over the rest of my time here as I have had an amazing time and have met some awesome people who I hope will continue to be my friends for many years to come. Next week is Halloween and the end of October so I’ll have another blog post up then ❤

Summer 2015

Summer 2015 will forever be fixed in my memory as one of the best summers I’ve ever had 🙂 Not only did I finish high school but I also passed my driving test which was something I never thought I would do!!!  My friends and I have made some amazing memories which I know I will look back on fondly for many years to come, from meeting one direction-granted they were waxwork figures in madame tussauds although I don’t think that makes it any less awesome – to going up to Brighton for the day and walking along the Brighton pier which has some amazing arcade games btw 🙂 My family and I went on our summer holiday to Mexico! I got to see one of the 7 wonders of the world and also turned 18 sitting by the pool drinking champagne (not a bad way to celebrate a birthday if u ask me ❤ ) I got to meet two Dolphins as part of an excursion and also got to swim with manatees which are affectionately known as sea cows which I love :p Although these adventures were amazing, some of my fondest memories are of when my friends and I spent a whole day watching Disney and Marvel movies or when we camped in a tent in the back garden and watched the sun rise. Sometimes it’s not where you are or what you are doing its who you are with that makes an experience one of the best times of your life ❤ As I look forward to going to university (I moved into my uni halls yesterday)!  I am looking back at Summer 2015 knowing that I have some memories I will cherish for the rest of my life 🙂
