More Body Positive Instagrams :)

In the lead up to the summer months begins I have seen lots of articles and posts about becoming beach body/summer ready which is just ridiculous because if you have a body and are on a beach then you have a beach body. I have written a few other posts similar to this one but I thought that since we are in the lead up to summer I would update it so that you can follow some inspirational, confident people and see some positivity on your feed 🙂

  • Ryley Isaac- https://www.instagram.com/ryleyisaac/: Ryley was on Season 3 of Glow Up and did some absolutely amazing make-up looks which emphasised her birth-mark which was super cool!
  • Shira Rose- https://www.instagram.com/theshirarose/: Shira is an Eating disorder therapist and body positive blogger who works to dismantle the stigma around body size and ensure that everyone has equal access to healthcare.
  • Laetdecar- https://www.instagram.com/laetdecaru/: Laeti is actually someone that I found on TikTok where she does Big Sister style videos about body image and raising awareness of eating disorders. She also runs the Sunflower Merch site which is so lovely 🙂

Top 10 Demi Lovato Song Lyrics :)

Top 10 Demi Lovato Song Lyrics :)

In honour of Demi releasing her 7th Studio album next month I thought that I would list some of my favourite Demi Lovato lyrics from her previous songs and albums 🙂 I’m so excited for Demis new era as she seems to be in a good place currently and I have always been a big fan of her music and mental health advocacy throughout the years 🙂 I have written a post listing my favourite songs of hers so far which can be found here.

  1. ‘Whats wrong with being confident??’- Confident
  2. Now I’m out here looking like revenge, Feelin’ like a 10, the best I ever been, And yeah, I know how bad it must hurt, To see me like this, but it gets worse- Sorry Not Sorry
  3. I’m my own worst critic, Talk a whole lot of shit, But I’m a ten out of ten, Even when I forget- I Love Me
  4. You can take everything I have, You can break everything I am, Like I’m made of glass, Like I’m made of paper, Go on and try to tear me down, I will be rising from the ground- Skyscraper
  5. Now I’ve got thicker skin, I’m a warrior, I’m stronger than I’ve ever been , And my armor, is made of steel, you can’t get in, I’m a warrior,  And you can never hurt me again- Warrior
  6. I need a voice to echo, I need a light to take me home , Kinda need a hero, is it you?, I never see the forest for the trees , I could really use your melody- Nightingale
  7. Baby when they look up at the sky, we’ll be shooting stars just passing by- Neon Lights
  8. I’m losing myself, trying to compete With everyone else Instead of just being me- Believe in Me
  9. It feels like someone’s stolen all the light I ever had. Like the world disappeared and I’m laying right here while the silence is piercing and it hurts to breathe- Still have me
  10. You try to smile it away, some things you can’t disguise- Give your heart a break

Let me know in the comments if you listen to Demis music and if you do what your favourite song and lyric is 🙂

Blogmas Day 12: Body Positivity around the holidays :)

Blogmas Day 12: Body Positivity around the holidays :)

As many of you will know I am a big Body Positivity advocate having struggled with Body Positivity for most of my teenage years and early twenties to differing degrees and I know that Christmastime can often be a triggering time for people who do struggle with Body Positivity as the season is very centred around food and calories, then after all the feasts comes the typical New Year pressure to ‘Get fit and lose weight’ for the New Year which is ridiculous and is a topic for another blog post but I thought in this post I would talk about some of my tips and tricks for staying body positive during this time 🙂

*DISCLAIMER* These are just the things that help me have a better relationship with my body around this time that I thought I would share in case they might help someone else I’m not a trained professional and don’t want to come across as arrogant and like I know best *DISCLAIMER*

  • Do a social media purge- Before the New Year resolution train starts and Christmas food shaming begins I would highly recommend doing a social media purge and following some body positive influencers so that when you find yourself in a social media void during this season your feed will be filled with positive people and I have a few posts about some of my favourites which can be found here, here and here along with quite a few other body positivity posts 🙂 Alongside following people who are going to lift you up you should also unfollow/block/silence anyone on your feed who doesn’t make you feel good when you see their photos 🙂
  • Take time for yourself and don’t spend time with people that don’t make you feel good- I know this is easier said than done but if possible try and avoid the people that you know don’t make you feel good about yourself however sometimes during the holiday season you have to see these people e.g. if that person is a family member however if you can try and limit your contact with them and if you do know you are going to have to see these people then try and schedule in some self-care either before or after the event 🙂
  • Spend time with friends and family that want to uplift you and make you feel good about yourself and that you know will be patient and understanding with you 🙂
  • Find a balance between positive experiences surrounding food and also Christmas events that don’t centre around food at all- I think this is really important as during Christmas it can feel like everything is focused and centred around consuming food however it doesn’t have to be! Its really important to find a balance between positive experiences around food such as dinners with friends/family and also Christmas baking which can be really helpful in making you feel in control if you are the one making the food and can make it more of a fun experience if you can get friends and family involved and can dance around to music 🙂 You should also find things that you can do with friends that don’t focus on food such as movie days, going Christmas shopping together, Ice Skating, playing board games, Christmas decorating/crafting with friends 🙂
  • GET RID OF YOUR SCALES!!
  • About a year ago I wrote a list of 25 things that I love about myself and I would highly recommend it for everyone especially around this time 🙂 Another suggestion is to create a self-love advent calendar and write yourself 24 compliments, opening one each day in the run up to Christmas which is an idea that I absolutely love 🙂

Let me know in the comments any tips that you have to increase body positivity around the holiday season 🙂

My favourite Body Positive Movies :)

My favourite Body Positive Movies :)
  1. Dumplin- Many of you will already know that I absolutely love love love this film- I am a big fan of Dove Cameron and Jennifer Aniston and add in a body positivity message and I am so on board!! 🙂 img_0206
  2. Hairspray- This was one of my favourite films growing up especially since it has Zac Efron in!! Since seeing the film I have actually seen Hairspray on the West End and absolutely loved the new version they did Hairspray Live with Jennifer Aniston, Ariana Grande, Dove Cameron and also Kristen Chenoweth.
  3. The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants- This film includes Blake Lively, Alexis Bledel and America Ferrera which is enough to make it one of my favourites plus the added Body Positive message makes it one of my favourite movies 🙂 There are quite a few scenes in this movie which I absolutely love including when they are trying on the jeans and also when Carmen stands up to her Stepmother by saying ‘We can just tell everybody that Carmen’s Puerto Rican and it never occurred to you that she might be built differently.’
  4. Little Miss Sunshine- This film is so inherently body positive and includes a normal kid who wants to enter a beauty pageant despite not looking like all of the ‘supermodels’ and I absolutely love it! I am a big fan of Abigal Breslin and absolutely love the scene where Olive goes up to Miss California and asks if she eats Ice Cream 🙂
  5. Isn’t it romantic- This is one of the newest films on the list and features Rebel Wilson, Liam Hemsworth, Adam Devine and Priyanka Chopra 🙂 I love the message of the film is that she had to learn to love herself and didn’t have to wait for a guy to love her before she realised she is worthy of love 🙂

Let me know in the comments some of your favourite films with a Body Positive message 🙂
