Theatre programme Pt 3 😊

Theatre programme Pt 3 😊

I absolutely love musical theatre and always buy a programme whenever I go so I thought I would update my last two Theatre Programme collections with the shows that I have seen so far this year as I have been lucky enough to see quite a few 😊

1. This is my programme from when my Mum and I went to see Hex the musical at the National theatre in January. It was actually my brother and his girlfriend that got us the tickets for this show for Christmas which was so lovely of them ❤️ I feel like this show is a mixture of Wicked and Into the Woods. Favourite song: Make it all good Any Celebrities? Not that I know of

2. This is my programme from when my Mum and I went to see Bring it On at the Southbank Centre in January 😊 I am a big Lin Manuel Miranda fan and also love this film so I have been looking forward to seeing this show for AGES and was meant to see this show twice before as due to Covid it kept getting postponed or cancelled. Favourite song? We Ain’t No Cheerleaders or What I was born to do. Any Celebrities? Amber Davies from Love Island was playing Campbell which was pretty cool 😊

3. This is my programme from when my Mum and I went to see The Drifters Girl in February which was pretty cool 😊 This was a show that my Mum really wanted to see but I wasn’t that bothered as I didn’t really know any of the drifters songs but it was so interesting learning their story and the songs were really good. Favourite song? Under the Boardwalk. Any celebrities? Beverly Knight plays the main woman in the show Faye Treadwell

4. This is my programme from when my Mum and I went to see Pretty Woman in February which I would say was both of our picks 😊 I watched the film a few years ago and really liked it and then we saw a few bits from the show on different things including West End Live and thought it looked really good ❤️ I actually thought the best character from the show was the narrator who definitely stole the show! Favourite song? Welcome to Hollywood or Anywhere but here Any celebrities in the show? Not that I know of.

5. This is my programme from when my Mum, my Grandma and I went to see Tina the musical in April. We booked this show during London Theatre Week on TodayTix which meant we got pretty good seats for pretty cheap and it was so interesting learning about her life and I was pleasantly surprised how many songs of hers I knew! Favourite song? River Deep Mountain High or What’s Love Got to do with it. Any celebrities in the show? Not that I know of.

6. This is my programme from Jersey Boys when my Mum and I went to see it in April. This was another show that we booked as part of London Theatre week and was one that I really wanted to go see as I had never seen it before but my Mum had seen it once before. It was really good actually as the Four Seasons had a really interesting career and the person who played Frankie Valli was really good! Favourite song? Oh what a Night or Walk like a man probably but all of the songs were really good Any celebrities? Not that I know of

Let me know in the comments if you have seen any of the shows I have listed here 😊

July-ving and thriving Day 3: Bad-ass Female musical theatre characters :)

July-ving and thriving Day 3: Bad-ass Female musical theatre characters :)

Today on Disney Plus a film of the original broadway cast performing Hamilton is being released which I am so excited for and have been since I found out 🙂 One of the many things I love about Hamilton is the strong female characters so I thought for todays post I would write about some of my favourite female characters in musical theatre focusing on Lin Manuels work and a few more 🙂

  1. Angelica Schuyler from Hamilton: Two of my favourite songs from Hamilton are Satisfied and The Schuyler sisters as they are sassy and fun but also show just how strong and amazing these sisters truly are 🙂 Angelica is my favourite Schuyler sister because she gives up her own happiness for her sisters and some of my favourite quotes from Hamilton is ‘And when I meet Thomas Jefferson, Imma compel him to include women in the sequel’ img_1138
  2. Nina from In The Heights: Nina is my favourite character from In the heights because at the start of the show she is so unsure of what she wants and struggles to express how much she struggled leaving the Barrio however she is the first person to attend college in her family and works full time as well to pay for her education so I think she is pretty inspirational 🙂img_1128
  3. Catherine Parr from Six: Six in general as a show has a Girl Power vibe and no-one more than Catherine Parr who fights against the rhetoric of having to define herself by how hard her life was with Henry. One of my favourite lyrics from Six is “Remember that I was a writer, I wrote books and psalms and meditations, Fought for female education, So all my women could independently, Study scripture, I even got a woman to paint my picture” which I absolutely love 🙂 Processed with VSCO with c1 preset
  4. Elle Woods from Legally Blonde: Legally Blonde is one of my favourite shows and one of the reasons I love the show so much is because of Elle Woods who is underestimated by everyone however despite this she gets into Harvard law school, gets a basically perfect LSAT score, wins the case and the nicer boy in the end 🙂 img_1117
  5. Elphaba from Wicked: Wicked was the very first musical I ever saw and I absolutely loved it and one of the scenes that I couldn’t get out of my head is when Elphaba sings defying gravity and is lifted into the air its such an iconic moment in Musical theatre and she shows that no matter what other people think of her shes going to do what she thinks is right which is so inspirational 🙂

Honorable mentions: Wednesday from The Addams family, Beverly Bass from Come From Away and the rest of the queens from Six.

Let me know in the comments who your favourite female musical theatre character is as I could write about many more lists of different characters and why I love them 🙂

  20. Near the end of my third year at uni before I moved out of my flat my flatmate Su and I decided that we would both finally go and see Phantom of the Opera as neither of us had ever seen it and we are both musical theatre nerds so we decided that it was unacceptable that we hadn’t seen one of the longest running shows on the West End.                                                                                                                          Any celebrities in the show? 21. The Rocky Horror Picture Show was the first West End Show that I went to see with friends and was also the first show that I went to the Stage Door. I went to see the show with some of my friends from High School and then went again with my parents a few months later.                                                                                                 Any celebrities in the show? Dani Harmer was playing Janet the second time I went to see it which was really weird seeing her singing Toucha Toucha Toucha Me! Rhydian Roberts from the X-Factor was playing Rocky as well.                        Favourite song? I think either Sweet Transvestite or Dammit Janet.
