July-ving and thriving Day 28: Folklore

July-ving and thriving Day 28: Folklore

I am a big Taylor Swift fan and have written two different posts about some of my favourite Taylor Swift songs and some of my favourite lyrics of hers however both of these posts were written before her new album Folklore came out so I thought I would add Folklore to the list and list my favourite songs and lyrics from the album because I feel like this album is such an autumn/quarantine vibe πŸ™‚

Favourite songs:

  1. The 1
  2. Illicit Affairs
  3. Invisible String
  4. Peace
  5. Mirror Ball

However I’m sure this list will change as I listen to the album more πŸ™‚

My favourite lyrics from Folklore:

  1. And when I felt like I was an old cardigan under someones bed you put me on and said I was your favourite- Cardigan
  2. Who knows, if she never showed up, what could’ve been, There goes the maddest woman this town has ever seen, She had a marvelous time ruining everything- The Last Great American Dynasty
  3. No one likes a mad woman, You made her like that, And you’ll poke that bear ’til her claws come out, And you find something to wrap your noose around- Mad Woman
  4. Family that I chose now that I see your brother as my brother, Is it enough? But there’s robbers to the east, Clowns to the West, I’d give you my sunshine, Give you my best, But the rain is always gonna come, If you’re standing with me- Peace
  5. Tell your friends you’re going for a run, you’ll be flushed when you return- Illicit Affairs
  6. Time, wondrous time, Gave me the blues and then purple-pink skies- Invisible String
  7. Gold was the colour of the leaves when I showed you around Centennial Park, Hell was the journey but it bought me heaven- Invisible String
  8. I’ll get you out on the floor, Shimmering beautiful, And when I break it’s in a million pieces- Mirrorball
  9. If you kiss me, will it be just like I dreamed it? Will it patch your broken wings?- Betty
  10. Like you’d get your knuckles bloody for me, Second, third, and hundredth chances, Balancin’ on breaking branches- Exile

Let me know in the comments what song is your favourite from Folklore πŸ™‚

July-ving and thriving Day 27: Week 17 of working from home :)

July-ving and thriving Day 27: Week 17 of working from home :)

I started the week with a Gyst day on my laptop working through lots of my emails and different bits of life admin πŸ™‚ Then on the Tuesday I did some shopping and bought two new toys for Maya who has been thoroughly spoilt this week!! I went for my first outside run with Maya this week on Wednesday which was so much fun and she absolutely loved it! ❀ We were both absolutely knackered by the time we got back! I then went to Mcdonald’s with my family for lunch which was so lovely ❀ We ordered in the restaurant and then took it away to sit in the park which was so nice πŸ™‚ Then on Thursday my Mum and I headed to a garden centre with my mums best friend for some lunch and some shopping πŸ™‚ My friend Dorothy came down from London on Friday and we went to a restaurant called Baghattis which has amazing food for lunch πŸ™‚ Saturday was another GYST day but this time I was cleaning my room and then on Sunday Barghavi came round for the day which was so so lovely πŸ™‚ I gave Maya a bath in the morning which meant she was all fluffy by the afternoon! Barghavi had bought some different gins for us to try with her so we ordered KFC for lunch and sat in front of the tv with a Gin and lemonade for a Disney marathon of Brother Bear and then Lady and the Tramp and then the whole family had a BBQ ❀

Let me know in the comments what you got up to last week πŸ™‚

July-ving and thriving Day 26: Would you rather- Skincare/Makeup Edition :)

July-ving and thriving Day 26: Would you rather- Skincare/Makeup Edition :)
  1. Win a lifetime of weekly facials or win a lifetime of weekly full-body massages? I actually don’t like full body massages because I have a very sensitive back since my surgery so I would definitely go for a lifetime of weekly facials πŸ™‚
  2. Throw away your entire skincare collection or throw away your entire makeup collection? I am really bad at my skincare so I would have to say throw away my entire skincare collection rather than my entire make-up collection! My make-up collection is definitely overkill so would be very expensive to replace!
  3. Have a lifetime supply of your favorite makeup product or a lifetime supply of your favorite skincare product? I would have to say have a lifetime supply of my favourite skincare product because although there are only a few products I actually use I love them and would probably have to re-buy them more often than my favourite make-up product πŸ™‚
  4. Never go into a physical beauty store again or never be able to order makeup or skincare online again?- I have done a few shops online during lockdown and have really enjoyed not having to actually go to the store however it would be really hard to match your skin colour for foundation/concealer without actually going into the store so I would have to say never be able to order make-up/skincare again!
  5. HaveΒ  bad skin or have bad breath? This is a really hard one but I think that I would rather have bad skin than bad breathe!
  6. Always have to sleep with your makeup on or never wear makeup again? Ummm- I would have to say have to sleep in my make-up as I love getting dressed up and putting on my make-up when I’m going out for the day πŸ™‚
  7. Wear black lipstick on a job interview or wear blue lipstick on a date? I think I could rock a black lipstick better however I think I would rather wear blue lipstick for a date because I feel like I wouldn’t worry about the date as much as a job interview!
  8. Would you rather take make-up advice from Kim Kardashian or Kylie Jenner? I am really bad at contour so I would love some contour tips from Kim Kardashian πŸ™‚
  9. Would you rather only wear blush or mascara? I actually don’t wear blush very often because I blush quite a lot naturally so I’d rather only wear mascara πŸ™‚
  10. Would you rather use lipstick on your eyes or eyeshadow on your lips? I think I would rather wear eyeshadow on my lips because there are so many different colours of eyeshadow and I think the powder would work better on the lips that trying to put lipstick on your eyes!

July-ving and thriving Day 25: Mycenae in Greece in 1968 :)

July-ving and thriving Day 25: Mycenae in Greece in 1968 :)

My mum found her Great-Grandmas travel diaries a while ago and I have been typing them up for her to read and thought I would put them on here as well πŸ™‚ If you want a little bit more background to read part one it can be found here πŸ™‚

Mycenae

The entrance to the town is through the lion gate; above its massive lintel is aΒ  triangle of limestone, carved into the β€œoldest piece of monumental sculpture in Europe”. 2 lions headless now, rear up, flanking a pillar , said to have had religious significance and what their forefeet rest on, is described as an altar, the great lintel of stone is 15 ft long and 6 ft thick. Just inside the gate is the cave in which the guard dog was housed. There are the marks where the chariot wheels wore groves in the stone streets and in the stone door posts are the holes made for the hinges. Before the gate are the stone lined shapes of a grave circle of a circular burial ground of kings and queens, copied from the Egyptians, who brought the custom with them when they came to help Mycenae repel invaders. In 6 graves of this royal cemetery, in 16 B.C, were found the skeletons of 12 men and 5 women and 2 children, all wrapped in gold leaf; also found in the graves were about 400 thin gold discs, with raised designs, and pierced for sewing on the garments, beautifully inlaid daggers and short swords, gold cups, alabaster vases, gold face masks, 3 of which were still covering the faces. The famous gold mask of Agamemnon was found here. Further away is The Tower of Agamemnon, a great beehive chamber, now called the treasury of Athens. No trace of the king or his treasure was found in it, it had been rifled in the past. A high walled passage leads to a slightly tapered doorway of which the weight of the lintel is 120 tonnes, above the door is an open triangle, placed to take the weight of the lintel. In old times, 2 green pillars were at the entrance, they have been removed but the holes are there to show where they were fixed; in the door posts are the holes for the hinges too. Inside the tomb, the round walls of smooth stone curve up to a peach dome, 40 ft high, reminiscent of a beehive. A door hole in the wall leads to a rock-hewn room, the main burial chamber; other graves were under the rock floor outside, all had been rifled. The acoustics of this beehive tomb are remarkable, also the echo. Agamemnon went to war; while he was away, his wife, clytemnstra , fell in love with another, so when Agamemnon returned from the war, he was murdered on a hill, is the ruined Palace of Perseus, built in this spot as there was water; at the foot of the hill are underground reservoirs, still with water, and cisterns; to reach them, 111 steps go downwards into the base of the hill. In front of the palace is a shallow circular grave site, hardly discernible now, but the shape is quite distinct.

July-ving and thriving Day 23: Updating my vision board :)

July-ving and thriving Day 23: Updating my vision board :)

A few years ago I made a Vision Board on the door of my wardrobe using photos from the Instagrams of some of the different celebrities I look up to πŸ™‚Β  A few days ago I decided to update it as some of the photos had started to fade and curl in the corner so I ordered some photos from photo-box πŸ™‚

First I took down all of my old photos, recycled them and searched on Instagram for new photos to update the wall with πŸ™‚

A few days later the photos arrived so I spent all evening putting up the new photos

Let me know in the comments if you have a vision board yourself πŸ™‚
