December Favourites 2017 :)

December Favourites 2017 :)

Tv shows:

Dynasty: When I heard that Elizabeth Gillies was going to star in a new Tv Show I was so excited as I loved her in Victorious! I watched the first episode and I never wanted it to stop- I binge watched the first 3 episodes which were all amazing and I love Elizabeth Gillie’s character Fallon 🙂

The Crown Season 2: My mum and I watched Season 1 of the Crown over summer and are big fans of historical dramas such as Downtown Abbey and Victoria so when we found out they were doing a season 2 we were very excited 🙂 Season 2 focuses more on the relationship between Queen Elizabeth and Philip whilst Philip goes away for a few months on official business.

Stranger Things Season 2: Stranger things Season 1 was one of my favourite shows so I think I speak for lots of people when I say that I was estatic that they decided to do a Season 2! I loved the new characters and I have to say…I think I actually preferred Season 2 to Season 1!

Books:

The Unexpected Everything: I read this book whilst I was in Copenhagen and I loved it! The story follows Andie after a scandel rocks her family she must learn to accept the unexpected and go with the flow as her life is going to change dramatically.

Randoms:

Dot creates ultimate blog planner: Throughout the month of December I have been uploading a blog post a day which involves a lot of planning, to help with the planning I used the Dot Creates Ultimate Blog Planner which was so useful! It has sections for sponsered posts and you can write a draft, tick off when you have taken the photos, added the links and published ur blog post 🙂

Simply Complicated- The Demi Lovato Documentary: I have been a fan of Demi Lovato ever since Camp Rock and have so much respect for the journey she has been on so it was so nice to see how far she has come in her recovery and the process of her making her new music 🙂

Let me know in the comments what you loved during the month of December 🙂

What I got for Christmas/Christmas recap 2017

What I got for Christmas/Christmas recap 2017

*DISCLAIMER* I am not in any way trying to brag or show off I just love reading these types of posts and watching these kinds of videos so I thought I might try and do one myself ❤  I decided to combine the What I got for Christmas alongside a Christmas recap/what I got up to during December as I thought it might be a fun way to do it as it is the best of two worlds of not being too present based but also for the people who are like me and like to see what other people got for Christmas it includes an element of that as well 🙂 *DISCLAIMER*

The first big Christmassy thing I did during the month of December was go to BeautyCon London which was absolutely AMAZING, it’s an event that happens every year where brands, influencers and celebrities get together to celebrate their love of Make-up 🙂 I absolutely love Make-up as some of you may know so this was absolute Heaven for me ☺️ I went with my best friend Hannah and we had so much fun! She actually wrote a blog post about it which I will link here: https://justhannahhere.wordpress.com/2017/12/18/beautycon-london-2017/

My first christmas dinner was with my flatmates up in London on the 11th of December 🙂 We decided to do a proper roast dinner for mains, I made chocolate brownie for dessert and Chiara made bruschetta and aubergine parmigiana for starters 🙂 The food was absolutely delicious and we were so stuffed by the end of the meal!! It was lovely helping to prepare all of the food, go food shopping together and dance around the kitchen listening to Christmas songs 🙂

There are four of us in the flat so we decided to do a Secret Santa 🙂 The person who picked me for secret santa was my flatmate Poon who I actually only met at the start of this year but we get on really well and I feel like she got my present spot on 🙂 I have been talking about the spectrum brushes for a while because they are gorgeous and was very close to buying a set when I went to the birchbox shop but now I have one of the brushes and you can never go wrong with fluffy socks!!

img_9897
My second Christmas get together was with my two really good friends from university Ria and Ellie 🙂 We arranged to have a sleepover at Ellie’s house on the 17th of December when all of us had submitted our assessments for the term 🙂 This time I had a slightly less traditional Christmas dinner which was a curry but it was also very very delicious 🙂 After the food we watched love actually, played heads up which had us all laughing hysterically and chatted for ages 🙂 The next morning we didn’t wake up till quite late as we were all shattered and then it was time to leave 😦

As some of you may know I am a massive Disney Nerd and love the songs from Disney movies so my friend Ria got me a cd of the Disney songs which also included a bonus cd of Christmas songs 🙂 Earlier in the year we had had an assignment where we had to write about an animal from London Aquarium so I picked turtles because they are one of my favourite animals so my friend Ellie got me a gorgeous bracelet with a turtle on it which I am currently wearing as I write this post 🙂

After the Christmas sleepover with Ellie and Ria it was time to come home for Christmas so that meant that I could put up my Christmas tree, see the family decorations and see my dog in her Christmas jumper!!!

My next two Christmas get togethers were with my two best friends from High School Hannah and Anna which involved us all going to Winter Wonderland and then all of us getting together for Pizza and movies which we do every year and have termed Friendmas 🙂 I actually blogged both of these events which can be found here:

Winter Wonderland:https://gracethoroughgoodbeauty.wordpress.com/2017/12/20/winter-wonderland-2017/

Friendmas: https://gracethoroughgoodbeauty.wordpress.com/2017/12/27/friendmas/

After friendmas the next Christmassy thing was Christmas Eve!!! For anyone who read my Christmas Eve traditions blog you will know that on Christmas Eve my family has a tradition of having a Chinese Take-away in the evening, opening £5 presents which usually include some sort of game and watching a Christmas movie 🙂 I didn’t take any photos or blog this as I wanted to be in the moment and enjoy it but I did take some photos on Christmas day! This year my brother had to work on Christmas day so we got up at 5am to open our presents and have a cooked breakfast before my brother went to work 🙂 My brother went to work at around 7am so then the rest of my family went back to bed but I struggled to go back to sleep so stayed awake and watched How The Grinch Stole Christmas which is one of my favourite Christmas films 🙂 When everyone else had woken up we had some nibbles, played games and then headed to my Nan’s house for a big Christmas dinner 🙂

I was very spoilt this Christmas and received a Michael Kors bag!! I have wanted a Michael Kors bag as I have inherited my mum’s love of bags 🙂 A few months ago my parents went to Bichester Village which is an outlet in Birmingham and took me with them as they wanted me to pick out a bag I would like 🙂 I am a lover of purple so ofc I picked a purple/burgandy style bag 🙂 I was very lucky and received the Zoella Treasure me set which has most of her Snowella collection and a Lush gift box as I am a big fan of Lush! The candle, Dodie book, Smashbox set and Morphe palette were all surprises which I was not expecting and I am beyond grateful ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

On Boxing day my Mum’s brother and his family came round for another Christmas dinner which was so nice and then the Christmas period was over 😦 😦 I have had such an amazing December which included completing blogmas- I enjoyed blogmas so much I decided to daily blog until the end of December which you might have noticed. I want to thank everyone who has stuck with me through this month and has read my blog posts and commented and liked I hope you have enjoyed reading the posts as much as I have enjoyed writing them and I hope you also enjoy the next two posts which are going up ❤ Who knows I might be doing blogmas again next year 😛

Let me know in the comments what you got up to during the festive period ❤

Friendmas 2017 :)

Friendmas 2017 :)

Every year for the past 3 years Hannah, Anna (my two best friends) and I have gotten together for a day of festive fun including a christmas dinner of sorts and usually watching a movie and dancing around to music 🙂

This year was no different and on the 22nd of December we got together to celebrate a tradition which has now been termed Friendmas 🙂 I set up the christmas table ready for a non-traditional christmas lunch of Pizza, garlic bread, doughballs and then cookies for dessert 🙂

After food we then moved into the living room and bingewatched Alisha Marie’s 2016 vlogmas which was such a lot of fun 🙂 I personally love Alisha because she always has such creative Vlogmas intros and I love her positivity which is great during the Christmas period 🙂 Whilst watching vlogmas we munched on the cookies which Anna had made- they were delicious!

After watching vlogmas we chatted and danced around to music videos and then took some selfies 🙂

I always love Friendmas because we are all very busy and Anna goes to a university which is quite far away but ever since we left high school 3 years ago we have always gotten together for this occasion and I hope this tradition will continue on for many more years 🙂

Let me know in the comments if you have any traditions which are similar to this with your friends 🙂

Christmas Day Traditions

Christmas Day Traditions

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! I can’t believe its finally here 🙂 I hope everyone has had an amazing day filled with nice food, family and presents ❤ I figured since its Christmas day I would talk you guys through my typical christmas 🙂

Usually on Christmas day I wake up at around 8am and then wait for the rest of my family to wake up so that we can start the day 🙂 We usually start by opening around half of our presents and then stop to have a cooked breakfast, put on the christmas hats we got in the christmas crackers and eat some of the chocolate coins sprinkled around the breakfast table 🙂 After breakfast we will finish opening our presents and then will curl up and read the books we got in my case, play some of the games we received and let the breakfast go down because on christmas there’s always lots of food involved 🙂

At around 2 o’clock we will start to get hungry again so will have some nibbles of party food including mini burgers, pies, sausage rolls, bagels and lots of other delicious food 🙂 We don’t have too many nibbles because in the evening we go to my nan’s for a big christmas dinner with my dad’s side of the family- my nan recently got a new puppy so I’m very excited to go round there and see her and ofc the family 🙂 We will eat dinner whilst listening to christmas music and will then watch the christmas specials on tv which this year will be the Victoria Christmas special which I’m very excited about! After being at my nan’s for a few hours we will walk home and go to sleep because we are all knackered from all of the food and excitement and have to get ready to do it all again on boxing day 🙂

Let me know in the comments what your Christmas Day traditions are and I hope you all had a very merry Christmas  🙂

Christmas Eve Traditions/Routine

Christmas Eve Traditions/Routine

Christmas Eve is one of my favourite days in the year- its the day before Christmas and you can feel the magic and anticipation in the air 🙂 In my family we have quite a few traditions that we observe on Christmas Eve so I thought I would share them with you 🙂

During the day on Christmas Eve my family all does their own thing but in the evening we all come together to eat dinner, watch movies and play games 🙂 The first thing we do on Christmas Eve is order a Chinese Take-away which has become a tradition in my family although I’m not quite sure how it started 🙂 After dinner we all move into the living room and watch Jingle all the way which is my Dad’s favourite christmas movie 🙂

Whilst watching the movie we will open up a box of celebrations or heroes because chocolate and will then exchange £5 presents which was a tradition that started around 4 years ago where we will all buy each other a present which is less than £5 and exchange them on Christmas Eve, they are generally a game from Flying Tiger which we will then play ❤

Let me know in the comments what your Christmas Eve traditions are 🙂

Christmas Desserts <3

Christmas Desserts <3

Personally I have a massive sweet tooth and would definitely classify myself as a chocoholic so when I was trying to think of blogmas posts I knew I couldn’t write 31 blog posts based around Christmas and not talk about Christmas desserts as the desserts are one of the best parts of a christmas dinner alongside the pigs in blankets and yorkshire puddings so here are just a few ideas of what desserts are sure to be a hit around the Christmas table 🙂

  1. Chocolate brownie- This is actually the dessert I made for my flat when we had our christmas dinner 🙂 Its very simple and tasty if you want it to be but if you put it with raspberries, vanilla ice cream and a tiny bit of icing sugar you can make it a little more special 🙂

  2. Trifle- This is a great dessert if you have someone in your family who doesn’t like chocolate or if you just want something a bit different 🙂 Trifle can be quite fiddly because there a lots of different components including the cake, jam, custard and cream but if done right it tastes divine and is a perfect sweet alternative to chocolate 🙂
  3. Triple Chocolate Chip Cookies- Sometimes after a big christmas dinner you don’t want a big dessert so chocolate chip cookies are perfect as you can just have that little bit of sweetness without them filling you up too much 🙂 These particular cookies are the recipe from Tanya Bakes 🙂
  4. Lemon Tart- This is a great dessert for people without a sweet tooth as lemon tart is very citrusy so is not quite as sweet as most desserts and if the pastry is done right it has a great texture and tastes great 🙂
  5. Profiteroles- Last but by no means least I couldn’t write a blog post about christmas desserts without including profiteroles as they are a staple around the christmas desserts. Like the chocolate cookies they are not too filling which is nice after a big meal and also have a little bit of chocolate for the chocoholics out there but the chocolate taste is not too overpowering 🙂

Let me know in the comments what your favourite christmas dessert is 🙂
