I am so excited for this blog post!!! I reached out to Hannah on Instagram a few weeks ago and we decided to do a collab together on our blogs and this is the first collab I have done which wasn’t with a friend from ‘real life’ 🙂 Hannah is a marine zoology graduate and her blog covers: baking, films, books, lifestyle and beauty 🙂 Her blog can be found here. Without further ado lets get into the post 🙂
1. When and why did you first start blogging?
I started blogging in Summer of 2015. I’d just finished my undergrad degree and was reading so many books, so I wanted a place I could come and write about the books I was reading. Partly to recommend them but also to keep my own little record of what I’d read and what I’d made of the books. Then around a year later I decided I wanted to make my blog a little bit more and it kind of became a random assortment blog!
2. What post of yours are you most proud of?
Oh this is a tough one. In terms of the one I think had the best reception it’s probably this one: https://emptychairsatemptytables.wordpress.com/2017/08/12/my-tips-for-success-at-university/
But I also love my most recent post – https://emptychairsatemptytables.wordpress.com/2020/04/17/just-keep-running/
3. What book would you recommend everyone to read before they die?
My answer to this would probably change every day but today I’d say Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. I mean I know maybe I’m showing favouritism to Harry Potter, but it’s become such a classic now hasn’t it!
4. Favourite classic Disney film and favourite modern Disney film?
I love Cinderella 🙂
Modern film, possibly Ralph Breaks the Internet…. Although I’ll probably change my mind on this in a few days time!
5. We both studied animal related studies at university – one tip for someone wanting to work with animals?
Don’t give up…. It’s really difficult to get in to the field. Just keep trying.
6. Favourite part of university?
I think just showing my independence and growing up and becoming who I am today. Uni changed me a lot, especially when I went away to Newcastle to do my undergrad.
7. Guilty pleasure Netflix show?
I don’t often watch Netflix that much but at the moment I’m working my way through “The Crown”.
8. Favourite holiday you’ve ever been on?
Oh this is hard. I think I’d have to pick South Africa. I went to South Africa a couple of years ago. We spent a week in Cape Town, visiting the penguins, ostriches, dassies and baboons before heading off to Kruger for 3 days on Safari.
9. Favourite thing to bake
Anything with chocolate! I love chocolate – so chocolate cakes, muffins, brownies, oh and last week I made really nice mini egg cookies, they were great!
10. Any tips for people who want to start running?
Don’t give up. The first few weeks of getting in to running are the hardest. Celebrate the small achievements and just keep going. As easy as it could feel to pack it in, don’t. It will get better, also don’t let a bad run get you down. I remember being in such a foul mood after my first bad run, but they happen to everyone 🙂
11. I am most definitely jealous of your job at Whipsnade Zoo! What is your favourite part of your job?
Just getting to talk to people about animals really. It’s pretty good fun, but also learning new things from guests. Also when you get really cute kids who really take an interest and that is so rewarding watching a little interest spark inside someone.
12. All time favourite Disney character?
Do I have to answer this one! Erm maybe Moana, because she don’t let anyone tell her no/she can’t do something.
13. Favourite part of university?
I already answered this one but I can give you another thing 🙂 I loved getting my “new” bedrooms every year and decorating them to how I wanted, but also buying the things to make them “homely”. I used to get criticised quite a lot for having a lot in my rooms at uni, but it was really important for me to have a bedroom that felt like home to me. So that meant taking a lot of books/posters/teddies and photos with me.
14. Hogwarts House?
15. Must have beauty item?
I can’t live without my Tangle Teezer!
Thank you so much Hannah for agreeing to do this collab with me I hope you had fun ❤
