6 Halloween themed movies I’ll be watching this year :)

6 Halloween themed movies I’ll be watching this year :)

I have become such a lover of Halloween over the last few years and one of the main things that I love to do is watching Halloween themed movies πŸ™‚ I wrote a blog post a few years ago about some of my favourite Halloween movies that are my must watches during the spooky season but this year I have added a few more to the list πŸ™‚ Some of them are actual Halloween movies and some have a great Halloween scene or have a definite spooky vibe/great villain πŸ™‚ I hate Horror movies so all of the Halloween movies I have picked in both of the lists I don’t think are too scary πŸ™‚

  1. Halloweentown- I watched Halloweentown many many years ago but haven’t watched it since but I came across it on Disney + the other day and it triggered a long forgotten memory so I have been wanting to watch it ever since πŸ™‚ Screenshot 2020-10-21 at 16.20.28
  2. Beetlejuice- I have actually never seen Beetlejuice the film however I have listened to the soundtrack of the musical and I absolutely love it so thought I would finally watch the movie πŸ™‚ img_9200
  3. Coco- Coco takes place on The Day of the Dead which this year is the 2nd of November and is a Mexican celebration where people gather to pray for and remember the people in their lives who have passed away but just be warned this movie will definitely make you cry!! Screenshot 2020-10-21 at 16.21.19
  4. The Haunted Mansion- This is another film on this list that I have never seen but I have heard so many people talk about and I had no idea that Madame Leota was from this film! I found it on Disney + the other day in their Halloween collection and I am actually really excited to finally watch it πŸ™‚ Screenshot 2020-10-21 at 16.20.58
  5. Mean Girls- I realise that this definitely isn’t a Halloween movie however it does have some of the best quotes about Halloween and one of my favourite Halloween scenes with Cady dressed as an ex wife which is truly iconic! Screenshot 2020-10-21 at 16.28.47
  6. Harry Potter- I always love watching the Harry Potter series around this time of year as especially the first few films have such a cosy vibe to me and I absolutely love the scene of the great hall covered in Pumpkins for the Halloween feast πŸ™‚

  1. During lockdown I have started cooking quite a bit so I would love to continue this- so far I have managed to cook Pad Thai, Risotto, Fried Rice, Spaghetti Carbonara and Gnocchi πŸ™‚ I would love to make the risotto and Gnocchi again and introduce another dish to this list before my update πŸ™‚
  2. Fitness wise I have started running during quarantine and on the 16th of June reached the 4k milestone on the running machine!!! My aim when I started running was to reach 5k so I would love to be able to reach my 5k aim before my update πŸ™‚
  3. Another aspect of fitness and physical health is drinking water and eating healthy so something I want to work on for the next update is drinking more water and eating healthier πŸ™‚
  4. I will be receiving quite a few packages and bits for my room relatively soon so I would love to do a few updates to my bedroom before the next update as well πŸ™‚
  5. Something that I am really passionate about is dog training so I woudl love to watch some training videos/read some training manuals before the next update and keep you guys updated on how my training is going with my dog Maya πŸ™‚
  6. I would love to start doing something nice for one of my friends every month so that is something else that I would love to add to the list of ideas πŸ™‚
  7. Have completed this blog series July-ving and thriving πŸ™‚

I think that is going to be enough to be getting on with before the next update!!!

Let me know in the comments if you have any ideas what my next set of aims should be πŸ™‚

10 of my favourite shows to binge during Lockdown :)

10 of my favourite shows to binge during Lockdown :)

I feel like I can speak for most people when I say that I have been watching my fair-share of TV shows during lockdown so I thought I would write down some of my favs πŸ™‚ I have written a few more of these posts which can be found here, here and here

  1. Queer eye- A few of my friends have recommended this show to me and its great watching for a little bit of motivation during lockdown πŸ™‚ I am a big fan of make-over shows and also self help books so this is an amazing combination of the two. I think my favourite of the Fab 5 would have to be Tan or Jonathan but they all have their amazing moments πŸ™‚ img_2690
  2. Once upon a time- As a big fan of fairytales and Disney a lot of my friends had recommended this show to me andΒ  its absolutely amazing! Its 7 seasons long so will keep you busy for ages and every season brings something new to the table and I love trying to work out who all of the townspeople are and meeting the new fairytale characters. download
  3. Orphan Black- I absolutely love this show which I was reminded of earlier this month when the cast did a virtual reunion, Tatiana Maslany is so talented and I don’t know how she does it!
  4. You-My mum and I watched You in January and were absolutely obsessed! This show is so easy to binge because you have to know what happens next!Β  I remember Penn Badgley from Gossip Girl and he is absolutely amazing in this! I actually preferred the second season to the first although it took a little bit of getting back into due to new characters. MV5BZDJjOTg4OWYtYWIyOS00MjQ3LTg5ZDktYzU2N2RkNmYzNjZlXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyMzQ2MDI5NjU@._V1_
  5. One day at a time- I absolutely love this show and was so sad when Netflix decided to cancel it! I think I have watched this show through fully twice and its absolutely amazing πŸ™‚ I am trying to find somewhere to watch season 4 at the moment 😦 img_0359
  6. Modern Family- I only recently started watching this show but I absolutely love it πŸ™‚ There are 7 seasons I think on Netflix and 11 overall πŸ™‚ I think my favourite characters are Alex and Hayley πŸ™‚
  7. No Good Nick- Adverts for this show were everywhere on Netflix over summer so IΒ  sat down to watch it whilst on holiday in Dorset and I absolutely loved it! The premise is so interesting and its really easy watching which I love as I usually watch Netflix in the background and is perfect for a lockdown binge πŸ™‚Β  img_1803
  8. Never Have I ever- This is a relatively new series that only came out in April this year and I cannot recommend this show enough πŸ™‚ Β My friends Barghavi and Birunda recommended this show to me and based on the trailer I thought I would absolutely love it and I was not disappointed! I love the characters and it is a great easy watch πŸ™‚ img_4917
  9. His Dark Materials- Β I am a big fan of the Dark Materials book series and am also a big fan of Lin Manuel Miranda so this series is right up my street!! I absolutely loved this series and I am really hoping they do a second series!! This show is definitely one that you have to pay attention to but its so worth it! The special effects are absolutely amazing and I love what they did with this story πŸ™‚ img_3682
  10. Derry Girls- This show reminds me of a female Inbetweeners based in Ireland and I absolutely love it πŸ™‚ The first series is on Netflix and then series 2 is on All 4. Its great for bingeing and I love seeing a bit of the history of the civil conflict in Ireland πŸ™‚ img_1097

Let me know what I have missed from my list πŸ™‚

Mid Tier: A Bugs Life, Walle, Ratatouille

Empty Chairs at Empty Tables :)

Empty Chairs at Empty Tables :)

I am so excited for this blog post!!! I reached out to Hannah on Instagram a few weeks ago and we decided to do a collab together on our blogs and this is the first collab I have done which wasn’t with a friend from ‘real life’ πŸ™‚ Hannah is a marine zoology graduate and her blog covers: baking, films, books, lifestyle and beauty πŸ™‚ Her blog can be found here. Without further ado lets get into the post πŸ™‚

1. When and why did you first start blogging?Β

Β  Β  I started blogging in Summer of 2015. I’d just finished my undergrad degree and was reading so many books, so I wanted a place I could come and write about the books I was reading. Partly to recommend them but also to keep my own little record of what I’d read and what I’d made of the books. Then around a year later I decided I wanted to make my blog a little bit more and it kind of became a random assortment blog!Β

2. What post of yours are you most proud of?Β

Oh this is a tough one. In terms of the one I think had the best reception it’s probably this one:Β https://emptychairsatemptytables.wordpress.com/2017/08/12/my-tips-for-success-at-university/

But I also love my most recent post –Β https://emptychairsatemptytables.wordpress.com/2020/04/17/just-keep-running/

3. What book would you recommend everyone to read before they die?Β

My answer to this would probably change every day but today I’d say Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. I mean I know maybe I’m showing favouritism to Harry Potter, but it’s become such a classic now hasn’t it!Β

4. Favourite classic Disney film and favourite modern Disney film?Β

I love Cinderella πŸ™‚Β

Modern film, possibly Ralph Breaks the Internet…. Although I’ll probably change my mind on this in a few days time!Β

5. We both studied animal related studies at university – one tip for someone wanting to work with animals?

Don’t give up…. It’s really difficult to get in to the field. Just keep trying.

6. Favourite part of university?

I think just showing my independence and growing up and becoming who I am today. Uni changed me a lot, especially when I went away to Newcastle to do my undergrad.Β

7. Guilty pleasure Netflix show?

I don’t often watch Netflix that much but at the moment I’m working my way through “The Crown”.

8. Favourite holiday you’ve ever been on?

Oh this is hard. I think I’d have to pick South Africa. I went to South Africa a couple of years ago. We spent a week in Cape Town, visiting the penguins, ostriches, dassies and baboons before heading off to Kruger for 3 days on Safari.Β Β

9. Favourite thing to bakeΒ

Anything with chocolate! I love chocolate – so chocolate cakes, muffins, brownies, oh and last week I made really nice mini egg cookies, they were great!Β

10. Any tips for people who want to start running?Β

Don’t give up. The first few weeks of getting in to running are the hardest. Celebrate the small achievements and just keep going. As easy as it could feel to pack it in, don’t. It will get better, also don’t let a bad run get you down. I remember being in such a foul mood after my first bad run, but they happen to everyone πŸ™‚Β

11. I am most definitely jealous of your job at Whipsnade Zoo! What is your favourite part of your job?

Just getting to talk to people about animals really. It’s pretty good fun, but also learning new things from guests. Also when you get really cute kids who really take an interest and that is so rewarding watching a little interest spark inside someone.Β

12. All time favourite Disney character?

Do I have to answer this one! Erm maybe Moana, because she don’t let anyone tell her no/she can’t do something.Β

13. Favourite part of university?Β

I already answered this one but I can give you another thing πŸ™‚ I loved getting my “new” bedrooms every year and decorating them to how I wanted, but also buying the things to make them “homely”. I used to get criticised quite a lot for having a lot in my rooms at uni, but it was really important for me to have a bedroom that felt like home to me. So that meant taking a lot of books/posters/teddies and photos with me.

14. Hogwarts House?Β

Ravenclaw πŸ™‚Β

15. Must have beauty item?Β

I can’t live without my Tangle Teezer!Β

Thank you so much Hannah for agreeing to do this collab with me I hope you had fun ❀

Be sure to check out Hannahs blog and Hannahs blog post for this collab which can be found here.

Let me know in the comments if you have any ideas of who I should collab with next πŸ™‚

Once Upon A Time Tag :)

Once Upon A Time Tag :)

A couple of months ago I decided that I would start watching Once Upon a Time on Netflix because loads of my friends had told me that it would be right up my street as it has a fairytale background πŸ™‚ I’ve been slowly but surely making my way through the seasons and am currently half way through Season 4 πŸ™‚

  • Favourite Male Character- I think my favourite male character would have to be either Hook or Mr Gold πŸ™‚
  • Favourite Female Character- I think my favourite character would have to be Regina, I think she has the most character development of all of the female characters through the show so far πŸ™‚
  • Least favourite Male Character? Peter Pan!
  • Least favourite female character? Hmmm probably Zelena
  • Your favourite scene? I loved the scenes at the start of Season 4 with Elsa and Anna and the Snow Queen so probably my favourite scene would be when the Snow Queen sacrifices herself to stop her curse on the town.
  • Your favourite ships? Either Emma and Hook or Regina and Robin Hood so far
  • Favourite Friendship? Oooo whenever Regina and Emma team up togerher I absolutely love although I wouldn’t call them friends as such!
  • Saddest moment? When Belle banished Rumple 😦 or when Robin Hood walked through the town line with Marion
  • Funniest moment? Hmmmm not really sure
  • Your favourite kiss? Probably Regina and Robin Hoods first kiss πŸ™‚
  • Do you want Regina to get her Happily Ever After? OFC!
  • Which side are you on? Good or Evil? GOOD OFC!
  • Your favourite episode? Oooo probably the Shattered Sight episodes πŸ™‚
  • Your favourite actor? Oooo probably Lana Parrilla
  • Favourite Backstory? Regina
  • Something you want to know? If Rumple can ever become good again and win Belle back πŸ™‚
  • If you could be anyone from the Enchanted forest who would you be? Either Snow White or Red

Let me know in the comments if you have ever watched Once Upon A Time and if you have what your answers to these questions are πŸ™‚
