Mexico 2019 <3

Mexico 2019 <3

If you have been following me for a while you will know that my family has gone to Mexico 3 times in the last 4 years and this year we decided to head back for a fourth time 😊 We stayed at the Secrets Akumal from the 26th of June to the 7th of July πŸ’•

The first few days of the holiday were spent chilling in the hotel, swimming in the pool and also swimming in the sea where we saw around 8 turtles whilst we were were there as they feed on the beach by the hotel 😊

On the 30th of June and the 1st of July we went to football as one of the reasons we decided to go to Mexico again as my oldest brother was playing in the Medics World Cup for the GB medics 😊

After the game on the 1st of July we went to a place called Casa Tortuga where we swam in Cenotes πŸ’•

The next day we went to Coba which is one of the last Mayan ruins you can actually climb up! It was very tiring but totally worth it for the view at the top 😊 We had to climb up on our hands and knees and then slide down because it was so steep!

From the 4th to the 6th we went to football as they actually got to the final and won!!! They played 6 games in 7 days which is a bit ridiculous especially in the Mexico heat!

There were so many lovely restaurants in the Secrets Akumal including a French restaurant and a place called Himitsu which was my absolute favourite πŸ™‚ Whilst we were there I decided to try Canard a L’Orange and Mussels in the French restaurant and then in Himitsu we decided to try Sake πŸ™‚

Mexico 2017

Mexico 2017

On the 27th of June my family and I flew to Mexico for the third time πŸ™‚ We have been to Mexico for the past 2 summers and have loved it so much that we decided to return for a third year running- this time it was my mum, my dad, my middle brother, his girlfriend and I. The flight is around 9 hours and on the way to Cancun we had a very dramatic flight! One female passenger was beating up her boyfriend so they had to be separated and then someone else was smoking in the toilets!!! I think I speak for everyone on the plane when I say that we were very relived when we landed safely in Cancun. After our flight landed we grabbed our bags, went to the hotel, unpacked and grabbed a nice dinner at a Japanese restaurant- we were transported to the dinner in a golf buggy which was a really surreal experience!

The next three days were spent by the pool reading, eating and just generally being really lazy which was absolute bliss πŸ™‚ We packed some pool floaties including a unicorn, a pizza and a donut which had been given to us on Birthdays and Christmas the past year so ofc we had to try them out and if I do say so myself they were pretty epic!Β

Last summer whilst in Mexico my dad really wanted to go swimming with Whale Sharks but because no-one else wanted to go with him he decided not to go, this year he was determined to go and dragged us all along. Whale sharks can be up to 12.65m so even though they only eat plankton I was absolutely terrified!! We were allowed to jump into the water twice and had to try and keep up with the whale shark but they are so fast that that was nearly impossible- on my second jump the whale shark was swimming right underneath my mum and I and was so close that we could have touched it which was such an AMAZING experience and although I was terrified I am so glad that I overcame my fear so thanks Mum and Dad for dragging me along! :p

We had one more day of relaxing by the pool at our first hotel on the Sunday which was mainly spent in the cabana because we had all gotten sunburnt the day before because we were not allowed to wear suncream whilst swimming with the whale sharks.

On our final day at the Paradisus hotel we actually went on an excursion to Chichen Itza which is one of the new seven wonders of the world- we went to Chichen Itza two years ago but because my brothers girlfriend hadn’t been and really wanted to we thought that we would all go πŸ™‚

After going round the ruins and soaking in the atmosphere we all boarded back onto a minibus and headed to a cenote for lunch and to have a swim because around the Chichen Itza area it is so hot that it was so nice to get in the cold water and cool off πŸ™‚ After the cenote we headed to the Paradisus to collect our bags, grabbed a taxi and went to our second hotel which was the secrets in Akumal.

Our first full day at the Secrets hotel was also my 20th Birthday!! I woke up to lots of lovely birthday messages from my friends and then we went down to breakfast for birthday mimosas and to decide what we wanted to do for the day. We decided that we would spend the day by the beach sunbathing and swimming in the sea as at this particular beach you were able to snorkel with the turtles!!!

After spending the day snorkelling with turtles we headed to Himitsu because we had booked a teppanyaki table for that evening πŸ™‚ The food was incredible and it was an experience I will never forget πŸ™‚ I went to bed that evening with a massive smile on my face πŸ™‚

The 5th of July was spent alternating between the pool and the beach as was the 7th although at this hotel we decided not to bring our floaties to the pool as the pool we tended to be in was meant to be a quiet pool πŸ™‚

In between our pool/beach days we decided to head to some other mayan ruins called Talum- we saw these ruins last year but didn’t get a lot of time to spend looking round as we were on a tour and because it was so close to our hotel we decided to get a taxi to the ruins and explore for ourselves πŸ™‚ We wandered around reading all about the ancient mayan culture and then went to the beach to cool down πŸ™‚

The 8th of July was our last day which we were all very sad about because none of us wanted to leave 😦 The flight home was a lot less dramatic and by the morning of the 9th of July we were back in England- slightly more tanned than when we left but exhausted because we had a night flight on the way back and I unfortunately cannot sleep on planes.

Mexico 2016 :)

Mexico 2016 :)

This Summer my family and I decided to go back to Mexico for our family holiday because it was such a lovely place and there were still many things that we hadn’t seen πŸ™‚Β We arrived on the 21st of June in the evening and started our stay at the Paradisus Hotel in Cancun. Β We settled down for a traditional Mexican dinner before heading to bed as the flight from London to Cancun is 10 hours so we were all very tired and jetlagged. The next two days were spent chilling by the pool drinking cocktails and reading my kindle πŸ™‚ I also tried mussels for the first time and they were very nice ❀

The 24th of June brought with it an excursion to Xcaret which is a Park in Mexico. We arrived and went straight to the underground river which went through underground tunnels and into caves with bats flying around- it was very scary as it could be quite dark at times but very relaxing and beautiful when it opened up into large areas of clear freshwater. After swimming through the river we went on a water ride which was appropriately named ‘Adrenalina’ as the boat was going 55 miles per hour and was doing 360 degree turns and something called ‘immersion’ which was when the speedboat would suddenly stop causing a huge wave to come over the boat which I hated by everyone else loved. After ‘Adrenalina’ we went scuba diving where we saw a few blue tangs and a STING RAY!! Then after a bit of lunch we went exploring and saw Puma’s, butterflies, sea turtles, manatees, nurse sharks and much more including a mayan village. To finish off the day we went to a show called Xcaret Mexico Espectacular which was about the history of Mexico and the mayan people which was really interesting πŸ™‚

From the 25th- 28th I spent my time by the pool sunbathing πŸ™‚

On the 28th we moved from the Paradisus Cancun to the Secrets hotel in Akumal and I then spent the 29th reading my kindle on the beach reading books from the Zoella Book Club and even tried Escargot when we went to a French restaurant for dinner πŸ™‚

On the 30th we had a tour of Tulum which is an old Mayan city which was originally called Zama. Tulum was a very beautiful city with lots of rich history and great photography spots πŸ™‚

We then went on a turtle tour where we went snorkelling in the sea trying to see turtles in their natural environment which was amazing as they were choosing to be there rather than being boxed in and at one point one of the turtles came up for air right in front of me and was so close I could touch it πŸ™‚

I had one more day of relaxing by the pool and then on the 2nd of July we flew home. Overall Mexico 2016 was an amazing experience which I would love to repeat πŸ™‚ who knows maybe I’ll find myself back in Mexico in Summer 2017 πŸ™‚

Let me know in the comments where ur off to this Summer or if u’ve ever been to Mexico before xxxxx
